Clash at the Cape 

Speech and Debate Tournament

 Hosted by Go Forth Carolina Speech and Debate Club

Tournament Location: Cape Carteret Baptist Church, 101 Anita Forte Dr., Cape Carteret, NC 28584

Registration Opens: Thursday, March 3th 2026 at 8:00AM Eastern

Registration Closes: Thursday, March 19th, 2026 at 5:00PM Eastern

Payment due: March 19th at midnight to retain your spot(s) in your chosen events.

Refund Policy: No refunds will be issued after March 19. Space is limited. Early registration is encouraged. 

Late Fees: A $20 late fee will be applied to registrations not paid by the deadline. Full payment must be received by March 21 by midnight or all events will be dropped with NO REFUND.

***Events fill up quickly during registration. Please register to be put on the waitlist. We will monitor these events and open space if available. Please check your email frequently (including spam folders) if you are waiting to be removed from a waitlist to ensure timely payment and script submission to avoid late fees or events being dropped.

Script Submission:

Scripts are due by midnight March 19.

Revised Scripts are due by midnight March 26. 

Any scripts not received after the deadline will be dropped from the tournament.

Fees:
Debate (LD/TP/Parli) - $40 for each debate event
Varsity Speech Events - $25 first event/$15 each subsequent event (6 max)
JV Public Forum - $35 per debater
JV Speech - $20 first event/$10 each subsequent event (3 max)

Junior Speech - $10/student

Stoa Membership:
Your family must be a member of Stoa in order to compete. Please follow this link Stoa Membership to register. 

This tournament meets the minimum tournament standards of STOA for speech and debate.

Parent Participation:

All students must have a parent or adult chaperone present and inside the building(s) during the entire tournament. 

If a parent cannot attend, prior approval and an alternative contribution must be arranged with the tournament director for the student to be allowed to partcipicate.

• Each parent will be responsible for judging their required rounds. (See Parent Page for more details.)
• Not fulfilling judging obligations may result in disqualification from the tournament. Thank you for your cooperation.
